Bergen County is a county that was named after the Bergen, New Jersey community. Out of the 21 counties in New Jersey Bergen County has the largest amount of people living within its county limits. Bergen Country has many different things to offer from several parks, festivals and so much more. Bergen County is surrounded on all sides by some of the most beautiful land in the East, with Passaic County located to the West and Essex County along with Hudson County located to the South. The coldest month of the year is normally January, and the average temperature in this month is -3 degrees Celsius. There is not always snow, but neighboring areas do get persistent coverage during the winter months. The average summer temperature reaches 88 degrees in mid July, according to the National Weather Service, which is milder than most inland areas. The Blue Laws in Bergen County are one of the very last to remain in the U.S. at this time. Blue Laws are any legislation that is regarding public or private conduct that relates to the Sabbath. This was first used in the 17th century in New Haven, CT to keep citizens from breaking the Sabbath rituals. Bergen County, New Jersey has many main roadways available for travel to or from the area including but not limited to I-95, I-80, Garden State Parkway and I-287. There are many entrances into New York City from Bergen County, and the easiest route on the map is through the George Washington Bridge or the Lincoln Tunnel. There are main transit lines on the New Jersey Transit that connect with the PATH train to get you anywhere nearby. There is also a service to the New York Penn Station as well, for those who wish to visit often. The airport in the county, Teterboro Airport, operates under the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and has air traffic handled by the Newark Liberty International Airport in Essex County.
